Annual Dinagyang Festival 2016
After the magnificent celebration of Sinulog Festival in Cebu, there is one more city in the Visayas which hosts a spectacular and big celebration to honor, remember and cherish baby Jesus. The annual Dinagyang Festival in Iloilo City is held every 4th week of January. It is the Ilonggo way of celebrating the Feast of Señor Sto. Niño and to celebrate the arrival on Panay of Malay settlers as well as the subsequent selling of the island to them by the Atis.
The festival began as a religious activity where devotees of Sto. Niño paid homage and prayed for their intentions and miracles. Now, the feast has become a very large community celebration. It is filled with superb lively music, delectable pinoy meals, numerous interesting events and competitions!
