Coco Martin has no kissing scenes with beauty queens Kylie Verzosa and Mariel de Leon in the upcoming movie, "Ang Panday."
The closest that Martin got was a kiss on the cheek from the Miss International 2016 Kylie Verzosa. According to the interview of the Miss International 2016, she said "Beso lang po. Siguro mga tatlong takes yun, (Well, I was also reluctant if he said he was shy. But it was just a peck on the cheeks. I think it was three takes.)" Coco Martin as the director of the film, also took into consideration how De Leon's parents would react. The Binibining Pilipinas International 2017 titleholder is the daughter of veteran actors Christopher de Leon and Sandy Andolong. He said: "Isa na rin 'yun. (Well that was one. Of course, I was reluctant. Because she was entrusted to me by Uncle Boyet and Aunt Sandy.
I want them to be proud of their daughter if they watch it.)" On the part of Mariel De Leon, she is grateful to Coco Martin for taking care of her and Kylie Verzosa while they were filming. "For me kasi I'm not that experienced in acting, so it was a bit weird to be that close to someone that I don't know that well. Pero after a few minutes, I was very comfortable kasi super, super bait ni Coco. He really took care of us, (For me I'm not well experienced with acting, so it was a bit weird to be that close to someone that I don't know that well. But after a few minutes, I was very comfortable because Coco is so accommodating.
He really took care of us)" she said. The young actress added that Coco is guiding her into her acting. She added "Every scene, he wanted me to look good. He wanted me to push myself in terms of acting, especially 'yung mga crying scene, (He wanted me to look good in every scene. He wanted me to push myself in terms of acting, especially to those dramatic scenes.)"
Like Mariel De Leon, Kylie Verzosa is thankful that her acting debut was with Coco Martin. Asked why he decided to include Kylie Verzosa in the movie, Coco Martin said: "Narinig ko na gusto niyang pumasok sa showbiz. May way eh. (I have heard that she want to enter showbiz. If I heard things like that, I remember why I was still starting. I want to give opportunity. There is a way. I just return the things that happened to me.) "
The actor Coco Martin also revealed that he did not set a budget when he produced the movie "Ang Panday," which is an entry to this year's Metro Manila Film Festival. He wanted his directorial debut to be all-out so that moviegoers will feel that the film is worth their money.
He said "Sabi ko nga, magpapaka-businessman ba ako? (As I was asking if I would be a businessman in this movie? Because if I would think of business as a producer, I would cut the budget of the production to give me more earnings. But I told myself that this is my first movie, this is what I want and I will give it all to this movie. I want the viewers to be satisfied if they watch it.) " He added "Wala naman kasi akong [sinet] na budget.
(I did not set any budget. I did not put a limitation on myself that is why when we started I took in-charge in everything. I made the concept and finance it to avoid blame at the end.) "
It also helped him that some of his friends who were part of the movie waived their talent fee. He said "Marami like si Jaclyn Jose, Lito Lapid, Mark Lapid, Ejay Falcon, at Jhong Hilario. Balikan lang naman ng pagtutulungan. Doon mo nararamdaman talaga iyong pamilya. ( A lot of them to name a few Jaclyn Jose, Lito Lapid, Mark Lapid, Ejay Falcon, and Jhong Hilario. Paying back for good deeds.) " Now that the movie is about to be released, the young actor Coco Martin admitted that he is nervous as to how the people will see his film.
Kaya pinagsama-sama ko dito, (I am really nervous because I did know it is just me who like it. But when I was still making the movie I think first of the viewers before myself. Because if I think first of myself maybe the viewer's choice is different from me. In my long experience from Indie film to television and mainstream movie I already have an idea of what are the viewers' expectations that why I combined it in the movie.)" he said.
He was asked if he feels the pressure for "Ang Panday" to do well at the box office. He said "Hindi ko na iniisip. (I am not thinking about it. Because if I think about it or deal with that idea it just put a lot of pressure on me. My mindset now is whatever the viewers are watching on my teleserye Ang Probinsyano can also be found in the movie and bring satisfaction to them.) "
On the other hand, the dream of Coco Martin came true to tour his grandmother Lola Matilde in Europe. Lola Matilde rise Coco and they are closed to each other. You can see genuine happiness to their faces when they visit at the different scenic spots of Italy. Including to the place that they visited are the churches because the grandmother of Coco is very religious and it is also the time to give thanks for all the blessing they received. He shared in his video during his tour in Rome that he very thankful.
(I am very thankful because I have the chance to have a vacation even for a short period. I was able to go to Padre Pio together with my grandmother. We gave thanks for all the blessing I received and now we are here in Rome to attend mass.)" Even in far places, his celebrity status is present due to the Filipino fans requesting a selfie with him.
Kahit paano, sa maikling pamamaraan na iyon, mapaligaya ko sila, (Before I was also a fan. I know the feeling when you see the person you idolized in person. That is why when I see them, I gave them a hug, thank them and greet them. Even in a simple gesture, I give happiness to them)" Coco said. Now the actor is back and continues promoting his movie "Ang Panday" that will be premiere this December 25 together with the other Metro Manila Film Festival entry.
