Valentine's Day couldn't be any sweeter for the World's Most Beautiful Face, Liza Soberano, who received a bouquet of flowers from Enrique Gil on Valentine's Day.
She wrote in a post she shared on her personal account in Instagram saying "You’re my waking thought, my only dream, and everything I’ll ever need." While Enrique and Liza haven't confirmed their relationship status yet, the two admitted in several interviews that they share mutual feelings for each other.
With the television premiere of his much-awaited series Bagani coming up soon, Enrique Gil admitted he might not get the chance to take Liza Soberano out on a date on Valentine’s Day. “Malalaman ko pa mamaya kung vacant o hindi kasi kung may taping ako para sa Bagani eh di magtratrabaho ako so M-WF-Saturday kami so if ever wala, mas magiging makulay ang buhay ko. Simple lang gusto ko, simple dinner lang, flowers, yun lang, (I will know later if I am vacant or not because I still have a taping for Bagani, I will work first so MWF-Saturday is our schedule so if ever we are not shooting then my life will be colourful,)” he shared during his press conference held prior to Valentines Day in Taguig City for Samsung Galaxy.
After two years of being close to his leading lady Liza Soberano, Quen said that they are more than just friends at this point. “The real score sinasabi ko parang kami na. Pero you know siyempre I respect her lolo. May promise kasi siya sa lolo niya ever since before na kapag at a certain age 23 or 24 puwede na siya mag-boyfriend so I respect that. Yun ang nagpalaki sa kanya. But as I say, where we are right now, okay na ako,” he explained. The 25-year-old Bagani star also shared why Liza stands out for him out of all the women he has met. “Yung pag-aalaga niya sa akin. Yan ang hindi ko maipagpapalit kahit ano, how she takes care of me. Maalaga lang siya. Sinasabi ko sa kanya, ‘Alam mo para kang nanay ko.’ Pero I meant it in a good way na compliment siya. Very maalaga,” he said.
Quen admitted he was already aware of the fact that Liza had a crush on him even before they started shooting Forevermore. But it was much later during the series when he realized he was falling for her already. “It was when she had a problem in Baguio and when she had that problem I kind of felt bad. I really felt bad and parang I don’t want anybody else to make her feel that way again. Dun ko na-realize na ‘Ano ba ‘to? Ano yun?’ I think maybe that’s it,” he said during one of his interview.
Meanwhile the teaser posters of the upcoming fantasy series Bagani have set the LizQuen fandom ablaze. Director Richard Arellano posted snapshots of the poster on his Twitter account revealing that the series will be shown soon. Bagani is the first fantasy-series of Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil after starring in romantic-comedy and drama shows in the past. Recently in an interview, Enrique relayed that the series is very different from the previous ones they've done. “It's great, it's awesome. It's also my first time so at least they get to see us [LizQuen] in a different light and actually it’s fun shooting. Actually sobrang hirap siya compared to normal teleserye na drama but it's different and it's good. We grow as actors and it's my first fantaserye. Amazing stars, huge show and I am just happy,” he said.
Bagani is an upcoming Philippine television drama fantasy series, starring Enrique Gil and Liza Soberano with Matteo Guidicelli, Sofia Andres and Makisig Morales. The series will premiere on ABS-CBN's Primetime Bida evening block and worldwide on The Filipino Channel on March 5, 2018, replacing La Luna Sangre. Here are 10 Reasons Why We Are Excited for ABS-CBN’s Bagani. First, it the most hyped television series from ABS-CBN this year. Upon its announcement last year, the series has already caught some controversy after it was tagged as a copycat of GMA’s fantasy show Encantadia. The said show’s writer, Suzette Doctolero even claimed that the ABS-CBN series was nothing more than a cheap imitation and even commented, “Pang circus ang costume.” But after the series’ trailer has officially debuted, it’s obvious that the ABS-CBN series is far from what it’s bashers were claiming as it revolves around warriors and humanity fighting the Gods, while Encantadia, on the other hand, is about the Diwatas, a race of supernatural being living in a dimension beyond the human world.
Second, it has the unusual storyline. In the series’ official trailer, we are introduced to Enrique Gil as Lakas, the son of an exiled clan leader who spent years training to become a warrior to protect his loved ones. But unfortunately, he finds himself forced to join a group of war-hungry bandits in order to save his mother. This led to him to meet Maganda played by Liza Soberano, a skilled archer from the tribe of farmers, who asks for his help in training her tribe’s warriors. Conflict arises when the war-hungry bandits soon attacked Maganda’s tribe, and Lakas is torn between his love for Maganda and his duties to the bandits.
Third, is about the series’ mythology. Later in the trailer, we see Gods played by Diether Ocampo and Ryan Eigenmann, arguing whether they should still give humanity a chance to redeem itself after it has succumbed to greed and war. We then see different monsters starting to attack Earth as punishment from the Gods. Lakas portrayed by Enrique Gil is then forced to assemble a team to battle the creatures the gods sent. This mythology is actually more akin to Greek mythology, more specifically the Hollywood blockbuster Clash of the Titans.
Fourth, is the All-Star cast. Aside from Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil, the series also stars Matteo Guidicelli as Rakam, Sofia Andres as Dana and Makisig Morales as Vex. It also features Diether Ocampo, Ryan Eigenmann, Christian Vasquez, Precious Lara Quigaman, Ana Abad Santos, Robert Seña, Lito Pimentel, Dimples Romana, Rayver Cruz, Maricar Reyes, Enzo Pineda and Rufa Mae Quinto in supporting roles, with Special participation from Albert Martinez, Bela Padilla and Ian Veneracion.
Fifth, is about its big production. Just by looking at its trailer, one can already feel the gigantic scope of this series. From its gorgeous pre-Spanish era Philippine setting and incredibly detailed costumes, not to mention its large number of casts and extras, it is evident that ABS-CBN has spent a humongous budget in pulling off this big production.
Sixth, is the return of Makisig Morales to television. Makisig Morales’ last television show was the 2014 fantaserye Mirabella. He also entered musical theater scene in the play Teen Saint Pedro The Musical.
Bagani marks his return to television as he plays Vex, one of the five warriors that will fight the monsters sent by the Gods to Earth.
Seventh is the big comeback of Diether Ocampo. Aside from Makisig, Bagani also marks the big comeback of Diether Ocampo. His last ABS-CBN project was the Maalaala Mo Kaya episode entitled “Bukid” back in 2014. He was later seen in the drama Bakit Manipis ang Ulap? in 2016 to other networks. After that, he was seen in several shows of other network. A lot of people have since speculated what happened to one of Star Magic’s biggest stars since then. This year marks his big comeback to Primetime television and to his mother station, ABS-CBN.
Eight, is the LizQuen’s epic return to Primetime. Of course, everyone is looking forward to the big return to Primetime of one of this generation’s biggest and most successful love teams, LizQuen. After their phenomenal teleserye, Dolce Amore and the mega-blockbuster hit My Ex and Whys, we are now going to witness Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil in a whole new world of Gods and Warriors. This is definitely going to be epic.
Ninth, this is the first action-packed role of Liza Soberano. Everyone’s eyes are on Liza Soberano as she portrays her first action-packed role as the archer Maganda in Bagani. Obviously, we are all anticipating her fight scenes in this series as we look forward to her upcoming superhero movie Darna.
Lastly, this is ABS-CBN’s biggest teleserye this year. Indeed, Bagani is ABS-CBN’s biggest television event of the year. From its star-studded powerhouse cast, it’s epic production value and unique story, this is one of the year’s must-watch television series in Philippine television.
