The new set of tandem and characters are to watch for in the cinemas nationwide for 2018. First in line is the movie Judy Ann Santos and Angelica Panganiban entitled "And Dalawang Misis Reyes".
The two actresses play as devoted wives who got cheated on by their husbands who turn out to be gay in the film "Ang Dalawang Mrs. Reyes". With their combined forces, they will make sure their exes don't get what they took away from them: a happy ending. JC de Vera and Joross Gamboa play as their husbands with Gladys Reyes and Carmi Martin as the crazy women surrounding them. Andrea Brillantes is part of the cast as the daughter of Judy Ann's character.
When asked about what is the most exciting thing about the upcoming film, the Queen of Philippine Soap Opera Judy Ann Santos answer it plain and simple with the word "Us". And it couldn't be truer. Two of the most talented actresses in the country joining forces in one film? That sounds like the kind of fun that you wouldn't want to miss. The actress added that the people will expect pure fan from the movie. He shared in her interview "First project namin ni Angelica together after such a long time. Of course, it's a comedy film. Happy lang siya. Walang connection sa kapaligiran o sa kumonidad. Tungkol lang sa amin. Kaming dalawa lang, (the First project with Angelica together after such a long time. Meanwhile, Angelica's character plays on the sweet side. "Ako 'yung opposite. Housewife naman, mas under ako sa kanya. Ako 'yung pa-sweet, mas may arte ako, (I am the opposite of Judy Ann's character. Housewife controlled by the husband. I am the sweet type)" she said.
The "Banana Sundae" star has worked with Judy Ann years ago and she said that she has always looked up to her as an actress, so she admitted that she couldn't believe it when she was first told that they will be starring together in this film. "Hindi ako makapaniwala nung una na tinanggap niya talaga 'yung pelikula... Parang feeling ko 'di ko deserve. 'Di ba? Ms. Judy Ann Santos na 'yan, tinitingala ko 'yan eh. Tapos ngayon, makakasama ko siya sa isang pelikula. Nakaka-excite, nakakakaba nung mga unang araw, pero mas nangibabaw naman 'yung happiness, (I can't believe at first that she accepted the movie role. I felt that I did not deserve this, Right? It Ms. Judy Ann Santos, I really look up to her and you can be with her in a movie, it is very exciting. I felt terrified at the beginning but happiness prevailed along the way)" said Angelica.
They are portraying two very different women that will find themselves stuck with the same problem. Directed by Jun Lana, "Ang Dalawang Mrs. Reyes" serves as Star Cinema's opening salvo for 2018 and will be released this January.
Next movie to watch out for this 2018 is Buy Bust. It is an upcoming Philippine action thriller film directed by Erik Matti. It stars an ensemble cast: including Anne Curtis, Brandon Vera, Joross Gamboa, Mara Lopez, Nonie Buencamino, AJ Muhlach and Victor Neri. The story follows two teams deployed by an anti-drug enforcement agency, who are tasked with initiating a drug bust in the slums of Manila. Director Matti has called it his "first full-on action film" in recent years. And to the main female lead Anne Curtis, she said that viewers will expect extreme scenes on her. She even underwent rigid training for her action scenes.
Another is the Filipino adaptation of the 2014 South Korean romantic comedy Movie Miss Granny. The movie will be cast by the duo Sarah Geronimo at James Reid. The said project will be released by Viva Films as part of their anniversary offerings in November. "Miss Granny," tells the story of a woman in her 70s who magically finds herself trapped in a 20-year-old body. The comedy-drama movie was headlined by Shim Eun-kyung and Na Moon-hee. It already has a Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai, Indonesian, Japanese, and Indian versions. According to the director Joyce Bernal, the actress Sarah Geronimo will have a kissing scene but the question is to whom will it be to James Reid? Another movie to watch out for this year is the movie of the real-life couple Jadine. It is the returning movie of James Reid and Nadine Lustre to the big screen. The title of the movie is Never Not Love You. The Jadine fans are very excited especially there are leaked photos streaming online in some of the scenes of the movie.
There are also rumors that the actor-producer Piolo Pascual and Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach will make a romantic comedy film. But for the meantime, the movie of Piolo Pascual and actress Shaina Magdayao is already set. It is directed by the veteran director Lav Diaz with the title "Panahon ng Halimaw". Some of the scenes were shot in Malaysia.
The new generation Filipino superheroes where already revealed. In 2018 the movie "Darna" will start filming. Early 2017 it was revealed that the young actress Liza Soberano will fly to the sky as new "Darna" after the accident happened to Angel Locsin that hurt her back badly. In the second half of the year, it was revealed that the young heartthrob James Reid snatch the titular superhero "Pedro Penduko". In the re-imagined version, the next "chosen one" is a wimpy teen named Peter Harris, who was raised in the US by his adoptive father. His official origin story is as follows: "Peter Harris feels like he doesn't belong. A Filipino who lived all his life in the US where he grew up being bullied since grade school. Now 20 years old, he has had enough and wants to escape. Just then, his adoptive father passes away in a tragic accident involving something supernatural that nobody can explain. It will all unfold to him when he goes back to the Philippines to look for his mother whom he hasn't seen since he was an infant. When he finds her, he learns that she has been a victim of a curse given by a ruler of Eastern Kasamaan. As he embarks on a journey to find a cure, he learns so much more than what he originally set out to discover. That he is no ordinary human, and that he may be the prophesied 'chosen one' who will save the entire town from the rising evil that threatens it.

On the other hand, the horror-mystery film of Charo Santos-Concio and Bea Alonzo is already shooting. The title of the horror-mystery film is "Eerie". A story conference for the new movie was held last December 11. The film is directed by Mikhail Red, who helmed the Academy Awards 2018 Best Foreign Language film entry Birdshot. According to the director Mikhail Red, the storyline of the movie will run to a student who was discovered died in an exclusive school for girls in the 90's. It is the second horror movie done by the former ABS-CBN president Charo Santos-Concio after almost four decades. She was just 20 years old when she does "ITIM" in 1976. She also shared that is very excited working with the competent actress Bea Alonzo.
Due to the tie result for Best Actress of the 2017 Star Awards for Movies, the veteran actresses Nora Aunor and Vilma Santos were rumored to have a movie together this year.
