She will give birth to her baby girl with American partner Lee O' Brian. On her Instagram account, Pokwang shared photos of the bags that she will bring to the hospital. The photos show a suitcase and baby bags presumably with clothes and other essentials for her and her new baby. Pokwang wrote in her January 17 post: "ready na kami para bukas. pero teka yung totoo? manganganak ba ako or mag excursion (We are ready for tomorrow. But wait for real, am I really giving birth or having excursion)".
The following day the comedienne's boyfriend, American actor Lee O'Brian, shared the happy news on his Instagram January 18 Thursday afternoon. He posted a sweet family photo to welcome their new-born, Malia. "This morning at 8:28 am Manila time, the most beautiful little angel came into our world, our Baby Malia!" he wrote as the caption.
Pokwang is already a mother to Mae, her teen daughter from a previous relationship to a Japanese national. Last year the comedienne-actress had to say goodbye to her daughter Mae, who flew to Paris for an internship. After six months Pokwang was caught on video having an emotional reunion with her unica hija, clearly overjoyed to have her back home here in the Philippines. The comedienne was seen putting on an emotional display as she welcomed Mae with a tight hug. "Nabuhay akong mag-isa, kinaya ko, (I live on my own, I did it)" Mae reassured her mother. "Huwag ka nang umiyak, nandito na ako. (Do not cry anymore, I am already here.)" It's no secret that Pokwang loves her daughter very much. Earlier last year in April, she begged off the variety show "I Can Do That" just so that she could spend more time with Mae before she headed to France. "Ngayon ang importante po sa akin ay maglaan ako ng oras para sa anak ko, (For now, what is important is to give time for my daughter)" Pokwang, in tears, said then. "Lahat ng pinagpaguran ko, napunta sa maganda niyang edukasyon. Iyon naman ang pangarap ko sa kanya bilang isang ina. (All of my labor, went for her good education. That what my dream for her as a mother.)" She hasn't been shy in posting the photos her daughter would send her on Instagram, gushing about how proud she is of her.
This was also her first pregnancy to her boyfriend O'Brian since suffering a heartbreaking miscarriage back in 2015. It was also O'Brian who confirmed the miscarriage after two. The American actor says in his interview that all they can do it to accept. He said, "We just had to accept it hasn't happened yet, it wasn't time, and it's something that you definitely need to cope with." According to the American actor O'Brian, they are still in the moving on stage but are trying their best to cope up and try to conceive again. "It's something that we are hoping for and we're striving for and, at the right time, it's going to happen. "It's something I'm still comforting her about because we're still trying." The actor also shared that the Pokwang now is able to smile after the incident. He said, "I'm smiling too 'cause I'm with her." He also gives advice to the couple who suffer from the said situation with them. He said, "You just have to accept that it hasn't happened yet. It wasn't time and there are just things that are out of control in our life. Second of all, she's the one who's going to be carrying the baby, what I can do is I'm going to support her. I can love her unconditionally and that's what I did, I still do that, and so it's all good that way." He added, "When it happens, it's not easy, its tough. Obviously, there are expectations and hopes and it's something you definitely need to cope with and deal with. But, at the same time, it's not something to stop your life over."
Earlier last year the American actor Lee O'Brian revealed that his girlfriend, actress-comedienne Pokwang, is seven weeks pregnant. In his interview with ABS-CBN News, O'Brian said they only found out that Pokwang is expecting their first baby last Saturday. "We found out last Saturday. She was super happy, I was super happy, too. Sobrang masaya (Overjoyed), I prayed for this," he said. She also advised taking full bed rest because of her age and the previous miscarriage she had. Her boyfriend shared that she doing just fine. "She's doing well. She's resting. She's currently in the seventh week and required to do bed rest. I don't know how many weeks but I know she's withdrawn from all of her shows or commitments," he said. He added in his interview "If it's going to be a boy, definitely we'll have the first name of William because of my family. That will be a definite first name and we're going to see the second name, we're not sure. If it's a girl, I can't really say right now. We might name her after her mom, but we don't know." More than anything, O'Brian said that their priority now is the baby, noting that they previously had a miscarriage. It was last June when the comedienne actress Pokwang, confirmed that she was pregnant.
The gender of the baby was revealed by the couple in the gender reveal party planned by them which was attended by their friends. Among the celebrities who attended the party were Kim Chiu, Chocoleit, Pooh, Bela Padilla, Angelica Panganiban, K Brosas and Darla Sauler. During the party, it was also revealed that the actress Pokwang was expected to give birth in February of 2018 but came out to be earlier than expected. The comedienne Pokwang has revealed the name of her first child with her partner, American actor Lee O'Brian in an Instagram post. Pokwang said that their baby girl's name is Malia Francine.
Netizens were quick to notice that the name of Pokwang's baby is similar to the name of the lead character of the ABS-CBN primetime series "La Luna Sangre." Malia, played by Kathryn Bernardo, possesses special skills for being the daughter of a werewolf played by the actress Angel Locsin and a vampire played by the actor John Lloyd Cruz. Here are some of the fans comments. "Winner ang name! Itinakda! (The name is a winner! Chosen one!)" one commented, referring to the name of Pokwang's baby. "Kung anak mo si Malia, edi ikaw si Lia! (If your daughter is Malia then you are Lia!)" another fan added, tagging the Instagram account of Locsin. "Idol na idol mo siguro ang 'La Luna Sangre,' mamang, (You are really an avid fan of La Luna Sangre, mamang, referring to the actress Pakwang)" a netizen wrote.

"Saka bukod sa ipinagdarasal ko ngayon, siyempre mag-thank you ka, eh sana ito na nga, (Aside to what I pray now, of course, I'm thankful and hope this is it)" Pokwang told "KrisTV" host. "Sana ito na, tama na yung ano, Lord, sana ito na po, (Hope this is it, Enough of other things, Lord, hope this is it)" she added. During also in that interview, the actress confirmed that they became a couple January 20, 2015 after O'Brien visited Boracay. "Dumating at bonggang promo, (premiere night) tapos nag-Boracay. Tapos three days after bumalik ng Manila, yun na nagkasarinlan kaming dalawa, may quality time para mag-usap kung ano ba tayo, ano talaga," says Pokwang. The comedienne said she initiated the conversation explaining that she just wanted to make sure that she's not the only one in love."Mahirap baka mamaya hindi ba mahirap na ako lang yung in love. Tapos doon ko nalaman, sinabi niya na alam mo ba first shooting day pa lang mayroon na siya keme (feelings for me). Sinabi ko ano tayo? (What are we?) tapos hinalikan niya ako, tapos sinabi niya gusto niya ako, masaya siya kapag nakikita niya ako kapag magkasama kami, yun yon," she said.
